Radish (Raphanus sativus L.); Brassicaceae
Varieties – Chinese Pink
Soil and Climate – Sandy loam soils rich in organic matter. The optimum soil pH is 5.5 to 6.8. Roots of best size, flavour and texture are developed at about 15°C.
Season of Sowing – June –July and September – October.
Seed rate – 10 kg/ha.
Preparation of field – The land should be prepared to fine tilth and levelled.
Spacing – 15 x 10 cm.
Irrigation – Install the drip system with main and sub-main pipes and place the inline lateral tubes at an interval of 1.5 m. Form raised beds at 120 cm width at an interval of 30cm and place two laterals at 60cm in each bed.
Application of Manures
Basal application of 25 t of FYM and 2 kg each of Azospirillum and Phosphobacteria and top dressing of vermicompost @ 5 t/ha in 2 equal splits at 15 days interval (2.5 t at 15 days after planting and 2.5 t at 30 days after planting)
Foliar Nutrition – Spray 3% panchagavya twice at 30 and 45 days after planting

Aphids, flea beetle and mustard saw fly – Spray NSKE 5 % twice or thrice at 10 days interval.
Yield: 20 – 30 t/ha in 45 – 60 days.
