· The Organic Certification for the farmers taking up Organic Farming is issued by the Tamil Nadu Organic Certification Department (TNOCD) situated at Coimbatore.
· TNOCD was established by the Government of Tamilnadu in the year 2007 to carryout inspection and certification of organic production system in accordance with NPOP (National Programme for Organic Production), which was launched by Government of India in the year 2000 and notified in October 2001 under the Foreign Trade and Development Act (FT D&R Act).
· Tamil Nadu Organic Certification Department is carrying out the certification of Agricultural Organic Crop Production, Processing and Trade under National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP).
· The TNOCD is accredited by APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Exports Development Authority), New Delhi, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
Conversion Period:
The conversion period is the time between the start of organic management (the date of first inspection) and the certification of crops as organic. Generally it is 3 years.

- Group of farmers
- Corporate/Business Categories
Requirement for Group Certification:
- No of farmers in a Group – minimum 25 & maximum 500
- Legal status / structure required (It must be a registered one)
- Area within same agro climatic condition
- Similar Production System
- More than 10 acre farmers should be less than 50% of total area of Group
- Group will market the products under a single entity.
A person desiring to get Organic Certification shall send the following:
- Application form in the prescribed format – 3 copies
2. Annual Cropping programme – 3 copies
3. Operators agreement with TNOCD – 3 copies
4. General Information of the farm
5. Farm Map/Field map
6. Computer chitta copy
7. Water and Soil Test Reports
8. PAN (Permanent Account Number) card copy
9. AADHAR Card copy
10. Passport size photo 2 Nos
